Overview

The Hidalgo Youth Center is a community based service oriented facility; which is committed to providing area youth with a positive environment through the introduction and implementation of daily educational and recreational activities and programs.

We provide the community with experienced staff, a clean facility, a fun and safe atmosphere and the opportunity for youth to develop self-esteem and life skills for the future.

We serve youth between the ages of 5-18 and provide programs in the areas of leadership, teamwork, personal and educational development, social recreation and interaction, cultural enrichment, health, physical and environmental education.

The Hidalgo Youth Center and its staff are dedicated to providing youth with a variety of programs and activities throughout the entire year that include instructional type classes, indoor and outdoor recreation, community type service projects and athletics.

The Hidalgo Youth Center also provides adults with the utilization of the weight room and the opportunity to participate in various activities like computers, aerobics, basketball and softball.

Times: 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm (Children); 6:45 pm - 7:30 pm (Children); 7:30 pm - 8:15 pm (Children); 8:15 pm - 9:00 pm (Adults/Children)

Recreation Activities

The Hidalgo Youth Center offers the following instructional classes throughout the entire year. These classes are provided free of charge to all of our members and made possible because of funding through the United Way of South Texas.

Karate
Students will learn the fundamental skills of kicking, punching and self defense techniques. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, times and fees.

Guitar
Students will learn correct hand position, how to tune a guitar, basic chords and note reading, and how to play easy, popular songs. Guitars will be furnished Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, times and fees.

Cheerleading
Learn how to dance, stunt, jump, cheer and tumble through the basics of cheerleading Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, times and fees.

Gymnastics
Students will develop balance, coordination, flexibility, muscular endurance and strength. This is a beginning class where students will learn basic gymnastics skills. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, time and fees.

Computers
Students will learn basic functions of computers such as keyboarding, utilizing the Internet, creating E-mail address, and other programs. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, time and fees.

Arts & Crafts
Youth will develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing. Contact the Youth Center for exact dates, time and fees.
